Discover New England’s Ancient Places at the NEARA Fall 2025 Conference
New England Antiquities Research Association (NEARA) invites the public to its Fall 2025 Conference, November 7–9 at Bridgewater State University. This year’s theme, Ancient Places, Living Histories: Stones, Stories, and Settlement, explores New England’s stone landscapes, indigenous histories, and archaeological traditions.
The program features a keynote banquet talk by Dr. Sarah Baires, an archaeologist known for her work at Cahokia, the largest pre-Columbian city in North America. It will also include a featured presentation by Dr. Ian Saxine, historian at Bridgewater State University, on Plymouth–Wampanoag relations in early Massachusetts. Additional presentations will highlight Wampanoag traditions, New England’s stone walls, petroglyphs, and sacred sites.
Conference attendees can also join guided field trips to historic and cultural sites in southeastern Massachusetts, including King Philip’s Rock, Middleborough, Plymouth, and Foxborough State Forest.
Early
registration is $95 before November 2, with a $45 banquet option. Details on
