4.3.2.1.4.3 Aircraft: Palisades On January 7, 2025, LFD staffed and
readied four (4) of their five (5) Type 2 helicopters. All four (4)
were dispatched to Sunset 1 Fire. While en route to Sunset 1, Fire 4
(HLCO) diverted Fire 2 to the Palisades Fire to perform reconnaissance
and assist in suppression efforts. LFD Fire 4, Fire 1, and Fire 3
completed the mission at Sunset 1 and were redirected to the Palisades
Fire.
from the after action report
Fire 2 - looking at you - where did you drop your water?
did any helos drop on the Sunset 1 Fire? maybe they did because a
helispot was already in use before county e70 picked their helispot
===================================

la county fd and maybe beverly hills fd)
1030 - palisades fire reported

page 103 of 351 - photo from 1033 am of fire starting on ridge top -
sure looks like 1 good drop from a helo could have killed that fire -
it was obviously going well and had a strong wind behind it
as maxwell smart might have said - "missed it by that much" - oh well
- such is life - sometimes close calls have huge consequences - look
at Tenrife - 1 double on the radio channel and 600 died
