If they had a map at the dispatch office with the houses on it, they would know exactly which house to go to - instead of going to the wrong house.
If the driveway is long and the house is preplanned - they would have probably - had first engine lay feeder from road up driveway - 2nd rig in if Quint would have gone up driveway and given tank water to first pumper - 2nd arriving pumper would pick up feeder and go to nearest hydrant.
I dont think that any FDs in Massachusetts use the "pick up my line" command which is common in Prince georges County maryland - and has been for over 30 years.
