1. public safety boats in boston harbor are typically - boston harbor
pilots + seatow + uscg + bpd / harbormaster + tugboats + state police
+ state enviro police + state police at logan + maybe massport pd +
boston fd + massport fd

2. gonna guess that all of those are staffed 24/7 - except maybe
tugboats + state enviro pd + state police at logan + mass port pd +
massport fd

boston harbor pilots have two 60 foot boats that are staffed 24/7

massport fd boats might be staffed by just 1 person 24/7 with rest of
crew coming off a rig at hq - or maybe they have crew of 3 on their
big fireboat in summer

boston fd has 5 people onduty at the fireboat station 24/7

boston police maybe have 1 boat staffed 24/7

state police might have 1 boat staffed 24/7

uscg might have 1 49 foot boat or 25 foot boat staffed 24/7 with a machine gun

enviro police might just work weekdays

logan airport was checking out a boat by their buoy yesterday around 1
pm - seems it was not handled by Troop F - maybe one of the MSP Marine
units from the charles river dam station handled it

if massport pd has a boat - it might just be staffed in summer on
weekends or whatever

3. there is a maritime net that has 460.20 and 154.175 and 1 TG
patched together - maybe all public safety units can access this net -
maybe just LE

otherwise comms are probably on 156.80 or marine channel 9 or 156.85
or maybe 157.10 or marine 22 or some other marine channels

the tugboats might have their own tug to tug channels on the marine band

boston harbor pilots use Marine Ch 20

4. everybody seems to have at least 1 big boat and 1 smaller backup boat

5. boston fd has a scuba team with onduty divers scattered around the
city at various fire stations

mass state police have divers also - not sure if anyone else has any
divers in the area

6. there are no ambulance boats - this aint venice - however - bems
does put 1 or 2 emt or medics on a bpd boat in the summer at times -
the basic rescue plan for the harbor is to drag all victims to shore
and lug them to an ambulance

there are multi medevac helos that fly in and out of boston daily but
none have hoists and none can land on water

uscg does have rescue helos stationed on cape cod - they have hoists
and a 1973 mutual aid plan with bfd that has not been practiced since
1973 - ish

7. there are multiple 10 to 40 story highrises along the waterfront -
there is also the huge airport - and 2 huge natural gas tanks - 1 at
everett - 1 at victory road - there are 3 major motor vehicle tunnels
under the harbor - and 2 huge bridges (zakim and tobin) - no heavy
industry at the harbor except for some petrochemical storage tanks in
east boston and chelsea

8. there will probably be 1 uber command post - maybe under
jurisdiction of the Captain of the Port - which is USCG afaik - but
like we said before - uscg typically just has 1 small boat in boston
harbor - plus a homeport for 6 big cutters - but they do offshore work
- they can probably barely turn around in boston harbor - but they
might have a helo or two

we should find some marine tracking website to see whats in boston harbor now

9. day to day emergencies in boston harbor - everyone seems to go
whenever there is any emergency - both police and fire and uscg -
boston fire sends their fireboats to all fire boxes sent near the
harbor - massport fd will backup the boston fd boats on any major
fires - police boats dont have fire pumps typically - but some of the
tugboats might

boston fire boats typically operate on the regulat bfd channels when
underway - they also use the marine radio channels - they might be the
only boston fd units that have marine radios - except maybe the dive
truck and the mobile command post

10 uss constitution might have its own fire pump onboard - maybe
sprinklers also - we should ask google AI about that

11. speaking of mobile command posts - everyone has one - mema fema
911 faa mit harvard - chelsea boat club - bpd bfd msp logan - probably
uscg and dem and frb and fbi and dohs and ice and tsa and amtrak and
electric and mwra and gas and clean harbors and state hazmat and wmd
and army and navy and uscg and etc - gawd - where will they put them
all?
