this is old news - but lets repost for currency sake
listening to "Worcester Fire" group at
https://openmhz.com/system/comirs?filter-type=group&filter-code=65b9aecf4722c64fc79b6ce9
"Dispatch" - TG 4443 - the dispatcher announces calls - no field units
are heard on this channel typically
"Admin" - TG 4433 - this appears to be the home channel for any units
that are not in a station house - and are not assigned to any calls -
both the dispatcher and the field units are heard on the TG - fire
units tell the dispatcher when they are "on the air"
"Ops C" - TG 4439 - this seems to be the primary response channel for
single company calls - multi ems calls on thsi TG - also one fire
alarm call - units call off onscene - units announce when clear - fire
units coordinate with ambulances on this channel
The dispatcher does not tell units to switch to Ops C when they make
the dispatch on TG 4443 - it is all SOP
pretty sure that if they have a multi unit dispatch - the dispatcher
will tell the assigned units to switch to Ops A or Ops B - or that
might be SOP also - with Ops A used on north side calls - and Ops B
used on southside calls - or vice versa - Ops D might be used for
2ndary major calls
no pager tones are heard on TG 4443 - just a short alert tone at the
beginning of each dispatch
when responding fire units sign onto Ops C - the dispatcher will
typically give them further details on the incident - patient
condition info for example - and the fire unot will be told which
ambulance is responding
the dispatchers ID as "Fire Alarm" - at least 2 working this morning
- 1 male and 1 female
most voices on the radio are male but Engine 7 is a woman today - she
probably is the officer on Engine 7
aerial units identify as "Ladder" on the radio
if a dispatch is cancelled - the dispatcher will say "Ladder 1 remain
in quarters" for example - this happened today when L1 was sent to a
ems call but some engine was nearby and took the call - apparently the
engine was scanning the dispatch TG when they were on "Admin" -
(pretty sure thats what happened - somehow the engine knew the call
was near them)
"Coastal Medic 31" was heard on Ops C going to an EMS call
one of the engine officers was fumbling for words - siad he couldnt
talk today - dispatcher said something about a cup of coffee iirc -
around 910 am approx
