the 'number of homicides in usa' graph is wildly misleading

- the murder rate took a dive in 1998 and has not greatly changed -
even with the 2020 uptick
"The murder rate in 2020 was about 6.5 per 100,000 people, about 40%
below what it was in the 1980s and 1990s, when homicides peaked in the
United States." - RIGHT IN THE CNN ARTICLE - (the peak was 12 murders
per 100,000)
