seems the radio comms on the palisades fire initial attack was a total
disaster - search for "squirrel" channels in the report

mention of 1 repeater site down - but that might have been for PD - no
map of repeater site

background per zerg90

los Angeles city fd uses 800 mhz

los Angeles county fd uses uhf nd VHF

there are also 3 or 4 AM channels for helo to helo comms

there should have been no problem with comms - all channels were
available - surely they have fought fires in that area before

radio banks should be - palisades 1 - palisades 2 - palisades 3 -
palisades 4 - palisades 5 - they should have 5 batches of freqs to
handle 5 different fires in the palisades area

the city fd should presently have at least 8 repeater channels that
work well there

the county fd should have presently at lest 20 repeater channels that
work well there

the best repeater would be on the first helo to get over the scene -
but no one has repeater on helo

never mind - this is too complicated - lets make it very very simple -
the next 2 fire chiefs should be hams - that will solve all this BS
immediately
