that is their estimate
not too shabby - I am sure they are working to up that number
27,000 FDs are listed
68% of the departments have 1 station.
17% have 2 stations.
15% have 3 or more stations.
52,000 stations are registered
add another 10% to that and you get the magic number of - 57,000 fire
stations in the USA
there are just over 1 million firefighters - that is 1 in 250 by my calculation
"Of the active firefighting personnel, 34% were career firefighters,
53% were volunteer firefighters, and 12% were paid per call
firefighters." -
