Hey Everyone.

Today, EOT is excited to officially announce the Developers Conference and Developers Challenge:

MassDOT Developers Conference
MassDOT will be hosting a Developers Conference, free and open to the public, at the Tang Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on November 14th, 2009. For Full conference details please click here: http://bit.ly/2vxvA0.

MassDOT Developers Challenge
EOT is also happy to announce the 2009 MassDOT Developers Challenge. The Challenge inspires developers to create both applications and data visualizations, to submit them to MassDOT, and to release them to the public. The two top submissions will receive a CharlieCard valid for one-year of free travel on the MBTA, in addition to recognition at the MassDOT Developers Conference.

Visualization Challenge: The Visualization Challenge calls on developers to use data release through the MassDOT Developers site to show "A day in the life of the MBTA." The data released includes all CharlieCard "taps" on average weekdays in the summer and fall. For the full data, please click here: http://bit.ly/xrt8q

    .
Application Challenge: The Application Challenge calls on developers to create applications for release to the public that will make the MBTA easier for customers to navigate. Applications will be judged on the quality of design, usability, and convenience.

The first-place winners in each category will each receive a CharlieCard valid for one year of travel on the MBTA's rapid-transit and bus system.

Lastly, please spread the word about the conference and the challenge!

Thank.
Josh

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the data, you guys are doing some great stuff.

That said, a lot more could be done with the farebox data if it could
be correlated to a trip. Is there anyway to get the block assignments
for the buses with these fareboxes?

I suppose there is a privacy issue around releasing the fare media ID.
Has EOT considered scrambling the ID's to protect the users identity,
but allow for chaining of trips?

Thanks!
Marty
