[MASSBIRD] Gate 40 (Dana Common access) at Quabbin Reservoir is being closed until late August

Just a reminder that the MA DCR Office of Watershed Management has posted a notice on their Watershed Public Access Maps web site - https://www.mass.gov/info-details/dcr-watershed-public-access-maps - about the temporary closure of Gate 40 at the Quabbin Reservoir which is a popular birding location.

"Quabbin Gate 40 parking area and interior road off Route 32A will be closed to visitor access as of July 5, 2022 until further notice. Active construction will be taking place to upgrade the culvert and roadway adjacent to the Gate. 

This work is expected to take approximately 8-10 weeks; the road should be open by late August. 

This road is the main access point to Dana Common. DCR appreciates the public’s understanding that this necessary repair work will limit the ability to walk to the historic site. "
