Weather:
When the wind was actually blowing, the wind direction was good but the
velocities that were forecast never materialized. Instead of the promised
10 to 20 mph, we had to settle for dead still air for the first couple of
hours before we had a very gradual rise in speed to about 9 mph at the
close. Bright sunlight prevailed through most of the watch.

Raptor Observations:
We managed to count 22 migrants today: 4 NH (2 males), 11 AK (1 female), 5
ML, and 2 UR. With still air and no wind at the start, it wasn't long
before the birds began rising through the air column making finding,
tracking and identifying them a good deal more difficult. Only in the last
hour or so did the building wind speed bring the migrants down.

Raptors that didn't migrate included at least 7 OS, 2 BE, 1 imm Red-tail
and 2 TV.

Non-raptor Observations:
Early on, very few birds of any kind were moving at all. A mere trickle of
Grackles compared to some recent days. A group of ~20 Tree swallows moved
through as a unit. 2 Long-tailed Ducks, 1 Raven, 8 Flickers and a few very
small passerines including a single White-breasted Nuthatch.
Predictions:
Weak but favorable (WSW and SSW) winds in the morning getting stronger by
early afternoon but turning into the not so favorable S and SSE.
