On Saturday I am 95% sure that I saw a Raven fly from Short Beach towards the causeway. I had a brief look at the tail (not square edged) and the bird was huge. Since I've lived in Nahant for 10 years and have never seen a Raven, I hate to call it.

Linda Pivacek, have you ever had a Raven in Nahant?

Also, today my neighborhood pair of Carolina Wrens were calling back and forth and One is singing now!

Happy Spring!

Don, I have never seen a Raven in Nahant :-(.

Some spring arrivals around Nahant:
Fox Sparrow (red) 1(or 2) March 8, again on 15th at same spot on Heritage Trail, Lowlands.

March 18:
E. Phoebe 2 one at MAS Thicket, one at Bailey's Hill Park
Tree Swallow 4 Golf Course
Swamp Sparrow 3 two at Heritage Trail, one at MAS Thicket
Cedar Waxwing 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet 2

Also the two Snow Geese, both (white and blue morphs) were still with 23 Canada Geese at the Golf Course;
Blue since 12/10/2011, White since Jan 11, that I know of.

Note: a survey of Brant totaled 528 March 16.

Best, Linda
