AT ELIOT STREET AND THE JAMAICAWAY

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Emerald Necklace
Conservancy (ENC) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, January 27, 2011, to
discuss the construction schedule and traffic impacts related to improvements at
the intersection of Eliot Street and the Jamaicaway in Jamaica Plain. In
addition, an update will be provided on Parkman Drive improvement projects at
Kelley Circle and near the Parkman Memorial.

These improvements are part of the Jamaica Plain Access Project, a joint
project between DCR and the ENC to improve safety and accessibility at several
intersections along the Emerald Necklace.

Yes it is! 3rd annual Boston Bikes Report is at the Boston Public Library's
Rabb Lecture Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 on the 27th. I just called Wendy Fox of the
DCR, and she said that they found out about the conflict too late to reschedule.
The good thing is that this is an information meeting about
stuff which is really going to happen rather than a planning meeting.
We still should have some bicyclists there to point out how important the
crossing is when neighborhood people stand up to complain about how the
construction will cause more traffic on their streets. Some of those
people, though, really want this crossing, too, and I hope they will be at
the Arboretum. Wendy said that the information presented at the meeting
will be available online, and when she sends me the link, I'll send it out
to massbike-boston.
