Performance Test Engineer
Job Description ·
• Evaluate and execute performance test needs which is integral part of year-around releases.
• Work with key stakeholders in locking down SLAs and build performance test model for test execution.
• Coordinate with team in designing and implementing holistic performance test strategy for application end to end.
• Able to work with global teams in different time-zones across the world.
• Summarizing KPIs, Metrics into meaningful reports and elevate issues/risks to right attention towards mitigations.
• Need to play strategic role to improve process, tools, monitoring, alerts and highly contribute in all initiatives to improve software and hardware performance.
• Ensure test designs, scripts and data support testing of the requirements.
• Understand test plan and estimated resource requirements to support on-time delivery of test execution.
• Review performance test cases with functional experts.
• Develop automated test scripts, conditions, test data, and expected results for performance test efforts.
• Execute tests and report results according to testing standards and procedures.
• Determine testing environment requirements and tools.
• Record and communicate issues that may affect schedule, budget or quality in accordance with the project's issue management process including communicating and escalating as required.
• Support defect resolution management in coordination with performance test lead, performance architect, performance engineer and extended business and technical teams.
• Work with the application team to resolve any issues that arise out of the testing process.
• Validate performance defect fixes.
• Ensure that all testing results are maintained in an organized way and easily accessible
• Ensure that the team follows the testing standards, guidelines, and methods as specified in the testing approach.
• Review test and monitoring results to ensure that they meet the entry and exit criteria.
• Skilled in use of standard automated load testing tools.
• Experience with developing and reporting on results
• Strong understanding of performance testing concepts
• Able to setup right KPI, Metrics and Alerts with right monitoring in place.
Background:
• B.S/M.S/Ph.D Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field
• 5+ Years experience as Performance tester for enterprise application
• Hands-on experience in Performance test tools that are industry standard and preferably open-source.
• Excellent skills in summarizing large amount of metrics into meaningful graphs and reports.
• Able to anticipate Performance bottlenecks from design discussions and drive towards solution implementation.
• Excellent ability to partner with Architects, Developers, Dev-ops, DBAs, Product and Test to collaboratively fine-tune systems from Performance point of view.
• Implement CI & CD in performance environment and tag along with ongoing high-frequency release cycles in scrum model.
• Knowledge of systems monitoring, OS metrics, Sitescope, Diagnostics/Profilers.
• Knowledge of data centers, protocols (ex: HTTP, WS, Ajax, UDF) and networking.
• 1-4 years of experience in using Java , Web Technologies and other open source technologies
• Experience testing and monitoring REST,web services, JSON,AJAX,Canvas and HTML5
• Experience with Performance tools – HP Load, runner / Soasta / Keynote / CloudTest / Loadstorm etc.,
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and process complex technical information
• Plus to have test tools experience Jmeter, Junit, Selenium, Gatling
