The problem is that now I can't reinstall Acrobat Reader, each time the installation ends on this truncated and incomplete message (attached) which seems to say that Acrobat Reader is already installed.

The 64-bit application is a unified application for Acrobat DC and Acrobat Reader DC. If you have installed Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit and you purchase an Acrobat DC subscription, the Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit application will upgrade to become a fully functional Acrobat DC 64-bit application.

To stop the Acrobat Reader DC 32-bit application from automatically upgrading to the 64-bit version, create the following registry key before the first launch of the application as described in the help page -acrobat-reader-dc-migration-to-64-bit.html

Amal., this absurd situation offers me only one possibility to test and guarantee the correct functioning of the PDF forms I sell with Acrobat Reader: create them with Foxit Phantom or with PDF Studio Pro...

I'm a home user on Windows 11 and have Adobe Acrobat PRO. My wife and I both share the same desktop computer and use Acrobat to digitally sign documents. In order for this to work, we have our own Adobe IDs and in the past I used to sign in to my PRO and she signed in on the Reader. But now since I can't install both, I've been forced to install the older Reader 11 to use for my wife to sign documents, but the signature can only be stored locally because Reader 11 doesn't support Adobe ID sign in. She can't digitally sign documents with my PRO version because, of course, her ID doesn't have the PRO license and it forces the application to close. I'm furious about this and considering switching to an alternate PDF program

For me Acrobat Pro would not instal because it said, a more capable function was already installed. I hadn't realised the free reader had become more functionally useful. However, I use Acrobat Pro to scan documents to pdf. The supposedly more capable app can't interface with my scanner. I will now uninstall reader and hope to install Acrobat Pro.

There are work rounds but nowhere as efficient.

I was able to get around this today by installing pro in the normal way and then using our deploy software (PDQ Deploy - there is a free version) to deploy to the machine. In our case we need both on a Remote Desktop Server, some users need to use Acrobat some just Reader.

Hi, i have an account with Adobe Acrobat Standard. I can login online and use it that way but if i open Acrobat locally it shuts down after a few seconds. I have a feeling it's not letting me Sign In, as i can see the Sign In button at the top before it shuts down. I has been running this on my computer for some time before this started to happen. I did also have this problem previously (months ago) and an uninstall, clean and reinstall worked to fix it.

This time around, I uninstalled Acrobat, ran the cleaner -docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html restarted my PC, downloaded the 64 bit version of Acrobat Standard here -dc-downloads.html installed it and the identical problem still exists.

Hi @Steven237937759myn

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20355 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here -discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

This is a problem with all PDF's. When Adobe Acrobat starts, I can see Acrobat start, then a white box with the heading 'Adobe Acrobat' appears for about 1 second and then the whole probram shuts down.

We are sorry to hear that the issue still exists, As you have the most recent version 23.08.20555 installed would you mind collecting the Crash/freeze logs -logs-crash-freeze.html and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Amal

I had this problem before. Fresh install of Windows. Fresh install of old version of Acrobat, like XI. Same symptoms. After I run "Check for Updates" and install the update, then the problem was solved - same situation on all computers that were using the Acrobat Pro XI. You may have already done this...

Would you mind collecting the Procmon logs (Win Only) -docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

For me, this is a sign in issue. I encounter this problem whenever I switch between my computers as only two devices can be logged in at a time. I use Windows computers and on my Windows 11 PC, I have to change Acrobat's compatibility mode to Windows 7. This allows the Sign In window to appear successfully. I can then sign out of other computers to so that I can use my current device.

what on earth is going on with this new update of Adobe Acrobat Pro that normally it's supposed to be more user friendly - news flash, it's not - and appart from this, there is this new awful feature that blocks the app whenever I try to handle documents, the app blocks, I can't close, I can't do anything, it just freezes. The only thing that gets me out of there is task manager, and then starting over again.

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change, however we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you are able to be more productive & get more out of Acrobat. With the new interface, we aim to:

It was a trauma experience. everything is changed. NO more user friendly but thank god you have provided the previous verison otehrwise I will thinking what could be the substitute ...and then I will thning to use pirated old versions. Please please never force us to use your such new acrobat. it is just a horror

I agree and the rest of my office also agrees that the new Adobe rollout is a disaster!! I wonder if the people that create this stuff actually work in Adobe? For those of us that use Adobe a lot, your new update is awful and not at all user friendly and more clicks to get anything done. You also took out the "save as local" for those of us that use icloud based management systems, we must have the "save as local". The majority of us like having the tools show up on the right. Please do not make this a final update that everyone will have to use. My office will be using another program if this happens.

Yes - a change to another program is imminent. It is unbeleivably frustrating to have such an incredible disruption for the worst. Disruption is usally for the better right? Wondering what program will disrupt the defunct Adobe into a usable program. I have used Adobe programs since the late 80's, yep i was an early adaptor, and have been loyal since--that has now changed, almost irreversibly.

It is beyond frustrating to do YOUR WORK as well. You update smth, fine, I am not an IT person, I want to click a button and that update to occur, I do not have time to check if my previous Adobe was 1234350i064680 and is Adobe 34utoy35w6 I couldn;t care less, I pay a subscription that now is making me lose time ergo money because as we speak for more than an hour I am trying to update a pdf with Adobe Acrobat reader pro, which again, it was taking me less than 3mins and now I constantly need to have this annoying useless pop up saying that Adobe is encountering trouble shooting issues or w/e and it;s closing my work, and need to start again... come on

Just for quick workaround, in case you are stuck on onboarding again, we have implemeted Escape onboarding functionality which you can get away by pressing 'Esc' key. Additionally you can quit the app and relaunch acrobat.

To add to the conversation, I am using Windows 10 and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I could not find the version for a VERY long time, because in the middle of the workday, Acrobat suddenly changed appearance, removed all my toolbars and preferences, and I could not even find the Help > About Acrobat menu to find the version. I finally did, and it's ... well, impossible to copy/paste, memorize, or even keep open while I'm typing. I'll put a screenshot. Hopefully it will persist.

The new display is flipped right to left (tools on left, pages on right), offers ONLY vertical toolbars as far as I can tell, and has removed ALL of my carefully prepared settings. I now would have had to completely relearn the software before I can complete a project...that's due in an hour. NOT GOOD. There was no warning, I did not initiate an update, reboot or turn off my computer. This is a BIG change. I am very, very grateful for the "disable new Acrobat" button, and I hope that I can keep it forever. I have to assume that it will eventually not be available, but I will use it as long as I can. In the meantime, all of my toolbars have been deleted and I still have to completely remake my interface. That is an expensive loss of professional time. Boo.

I was in the middle of presenting a tgree dau training session and this pulled the rug out from under me. No warning, no advanced training. Just in the middle of the day it changed to this mess while necand my students tried to figure out how to move forward. It was very inconciderate of adobe.

Just do the world a favor and trash the revision we never asked for! Why did you move the bookmarks to the right? It's difficult to find and use any tools. Did you send s communication out to all users that pay your heafty annual subscription on how to relearn your nw software ? Please send it to me!
