Hello everyone, I finally completed my H1N1 quest and was able to get
my youngest daughter the injectible vaccine this past Saturday. Kudos
to Miami University Middletown for allowing us to come inside their
beautiful new student union. They had plenty of chairs, televisions
with cartoons on as well as plenty of friendly Miami U. staff on hand
to give you a warm greeting. The Middletown Health Department should
also be commended for their efforts in getting people vaccinated
quickly. It was such a startling contrast to our Hamilton County
Fairgrounds H1N1 adventure that I didn't mind having to get up/down a
few times due to some slight miscommunication. If you want to read
about that quest it's called, "H1N1 or Bust" and it's located on the
main blog page at the bottom of
http://www.MasonMetu.com. Of course, I
had to drive past my old house on Gage Dr. and lots of highschool
memories came flooding back. Go Middies!
Veteran's Day is coming up and there are some local events honoring
our veterans as well as supporting our troops currently overseas. One
event that is MasonMetu's top pick for the month is the Dedication
Ceremony on Nov. 8 for Deerfield Honors Veterans Park. It's at 2pm at
Cottell Park in Mason. Representatives from all branches of the
military will be there to unveil the bell cast by the Verdin Company
as well as host Cammy Dierking from WKRC Local Channel 12. There will
be music by Madison Kilgore. Deerfield Township has worked so hard to
make Cottell park an outstanding park for our community and I hope you
will be able to see all the hard work it has taken to get to this
point (over "7 years of volunteer planning, fundraising and develpment
work" - per Deerfield Twp.). If you'd like to make a donation for the
Yellow Ribbon Support Center, you can do that as well. Items needed
are sunflower seeds, beef jerky, snack cakes, granola bars, nuts,
deodorant, Chap Stick, razors, baby wipes and hand sanitizer.
November is packed full of great events. If your family visits the
