Back in Environment Court this Monday 15th February
It's game on for Masonic Friendly Society and Devonport Heritage this
week as the appeal hearing continues in the Environment Court. First
up will be the last two witnesses for North Shore City Council, who
are defending their decision to grant consent that will effectively
see big parts of the 1866-1883 hotel demolished. Council have already
brought in a heritage consultant from Wellington after putting asdie
the reservations of their in-house and contracted adivisors. We will
hear Owen Taylor, the consultant planner who recommended granting the
consent, and an urban designer/landcape architecton monday morning .
The Masonic Friendly Society will then present our case in
conjunction with Devonport Heritage, two neighbouring property owners
and with the Historic Places Trust who have attached themselves to the
two heritage appeals. The start time for our case is hard to
estimate, but could be around 2 p.m. on Monday.
We expect the hearing could continue until the end of the week. All
supporters are encouraged to come to the hearing which has been
switched to the 11th level of the 280 Centre,, 280 Queen St , opposite
Smith and Caughey's. Start time on Monday 15 th February is 10.00
a.m., otherwise 9.30a.m. each day.
