THE BASTARDIZATION of Devonport!

It's great to see a very STRONG APPEAL case made in light of the
independent commissions decision in April to go ahead with the
bastardization, and it would be a bastardization, of the Masonic
tavern!..on a sidenote, with 24 Victoria Rd (Premium Real Estate and
formerly Chris Rogers etc) earmarked for demolition, why don't they,
the greedy developers and their architect friends, just wipe out the
whole lot and we can go back to calling our village Flagstaff again,
like hell!..C'mon Devonport, wake up and help us to save what we do
have left!

If I had the money, I would've bought the pub myself and really
brightened up the place and with a heavy out there marketing campaign
to bring the punters in.
And just an idea fellow Devonportanians, why not organize get the
Checks to play in there soon!..Does anyone know their manager?? (I
have only had icecream with them a few times)
to prove a point somehow, that the Masonic is a great focal point for
live music and gives our youth something to enjoy and go nuts
on a Friday and or Saturday night, in a safe environment.

Another sidenote and pointing out a point of confusion, well for me
anyway:

Contained within Devonport Heritages recent statement re 24 Victoria
Rd:

"All of the larger old commercial buildings in Victoria Street however
are listed
on the councils schedule of protected buildings and so safe from
demolition." Quote.

BUT 24 Victoria is old, like 1872, okay it's not LARGER, but it's
really old, like well before 1942, and wasn't always a house, so how
did 24 Victoria Rd miss out on being on the list of protected
buildings then when the others were included, going by the above??
