Hey Matt,

Included is the permit summary from USA Cycling. Most collegiate teams will register week-to-week, so I expect them to start registering after this weekends race a Williamsburg.
Our advertising campaign has just started with the inclusion of Bikenetic, The Bike Lane, and Spokes. Hopefully that will get some traction over the next week.

Additionally, I've pulled down the Short Track info from the USA Cycling registration and replaced it with the Super-D/Time-Trial (a Collegiate only event as discussed).

Meanwhile, I will be out at Lake Accotink on Saturday morning at the Quantico Orienteering Clubs Mountain Bike Orienteering race, then to Fountainhead around noon to promote the race to rides and ride the course.
I'm still working on volunteers from the club to go out to Fountainhead on Sunday and Monday, but we should have some folks out there on both days if possible.

Hi Kyle,

Hope everything is going well with your planning efforts for the race on the 12th. Please forward your insurance information, naming NOVA Parks as additionally insured, as soon as possible. As of yesterday afternoon I haven’t seen any flyers or posters for your event on the Fountainhead kiosk, given the weather forecast it should be a very busy holiday weekend at the park so I anticipate quite a few riders. This would be a good last chance to get the word out.

It doesn’t look like there is anyone registered at this point on the USA Cycling website, have you heard from any of the collegiate teams?

Hey Matt,

First off, thank you again for working with Mason Cycling to get this event off the ground this coming Saturday!

Unfortunately, our Open Race numbers where dramatically impacted by a setting in the USA Cycling registration website. It made it look like our Open Race was full, when it was not. We solved the issue this morning, but only after the damage had been done. As a result, we are going to cancel the Open Race portion of our event. This means we will only be racing the Collegiate Events -- Cross-Country (XC) and Individual Time Trial (ITT or Super-D) with a greatly reduced schedule.

We would like to start setting up at 6am, have riders arrive at 7am, and start racing XC at 8am sharp. Our finish line will be the bottom of Shock-o-Billy, allowing riders to ride at their own pace back to the parking lot once they have finished their laps. When XC is completed around 11am, will will launch those riders participating in the Super-D ITT (fasted time around Green) with our finish line at the crosswalk/gate area (with crossing guards and the USAC officials). We expect to conclude everything by 12:30pm. At that time we should be clear of the trails and it can be opened back up to all riders.

Hopefully this new schedule works within your expectations of our reduced footprint. Please contact me or Ryan Bradshaw if you need any additional information. We still expect Port-o-potties to arrive on Friday (2 of them), and will be out on the trails Friday afternoon to put up some arrows and stage intersection tape as needed.

Despite our Open event setbacks, Mason is still excited about holding our first collegiate event at Fountainhead! And look forward to showing several schools (VT, JMU, and VCU are already confirmed they are coming) how we mountain bike in Northern Virginia!
