Role Description:
The Communications Executive will be expected to:
- Advise the MP on an overarching communications strategy, including policy areas, audience to engage and event engagements
- Coordinate media and public affairs activities to promote the MP's policy positions
- Prepare content for social media platforms, columns and press statements
- Build on existing relationships and develop new relationships with media and key influencers for advocacy
- Bring in new channels/ media campaigns to increase the visibility of MP's work
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- Any related degree (communications/ public policy/ development studies) preferred
- 2-4 years’ experience in a policy communications or journalism role with an understanding of public policy
- Strong writing skills, ability to grasp technical policy issues under tight timelines and translate them into communications products
- Experience in managing personal brands/ reputation management preferred
- Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and within a small dynamic team
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
