Hi All,I found this image in the Subway Construction Photographs Collection of the NY Transit Museum via the New-York Historical Society. This view, looking west of 42nd just short of Park was taken 3/28/1915, 8.5 years before the Grand Central Branch of the Third Avenue Elevated closed. The streetcar tracks with the dual conduits always interested me. Note that there are three tracks here. According to The Tracks of New York-Volume 1, the track on the far left was a stub end off the northbound track on Park Avenue. This was apparently used by the Fourth Avenue & Williamsburg Bridge Line (Havemeyer St/Brooklyn to Grand Central) and the Grand Central & West 23rd Street Ferry Line. This photo was taken for the construction of Routes 43 & 26-Section 1, which was the “Diagonal” station, aka Grand Central on the Lexington Avenue Line.Enjoy!Jeff
