During Hispanic Heritage Month, Colgate-Palmolive Company is encouraging
young Hispanics to “HAZ LA U” (MAKE THE U) and get on the path to higher
education.

We are happy to announce a new and exciting opportunity for you to share
with you. In order to support this effort, we will be awarding 16
educational grants to Hispanic students nationwide.

- *(1) Grand Prize — $10,000 educational grant*
- *(15) First Prizes — $1,000 educational grant*

Applying is easy!

1. Submit a short essay (500 words or less) on the following topic:

*1. What is “Haz La U” Educational Grant Program?*

· "Haz La U" is an educational grant program sponsored by
Colgate-Palmolive Company to encourage young Latinos to take the right path
towards higher education. It focuses on distributing education grants to
aspiring Latinos students to help pay for college expenses.

*2. What does “Make the U” mean?*

· "Make the U" is a call to, make the "U" towards the University and
get your life in the path of education.

*3. How does the program work?*

· Fill out the application on www.colgate.com/hazlau and submit a
short essay of 500 words or less on, "How do you think education can impact
the heritage of Hispanic generations to come?"

*4. How do I enter?*

There are two forms of entry:

A. *INTERNET*: Visit www.colgate.com/hazlau and follow the on-screen
directions to submit your contest entry. Applications are being accepted
through 11/30/09.

B. *Mail*, Legibly hand-print or type your complete name, mailing address,
date of birth, and daytime telephone number on the top-right corner of a
letter sized (8½" x 11") piece of paper and include with your essay. Then,
legibly hand-print or type your original essay on the remainder of the page
or on an attached piece of paper and mail in a #10 envelope with First Class
postage affixed, to: "Make the U" Contest Entries, 2286 E. Carson Street
#261, Long Beach, CA 90807, to be received by 11/30/09. If an entry requires
more than one piece of paper, all pages must be stapled together. Limit of
one entry per outer mailing envelope.

*5. How are the essays judged?*

· Essays will be judged by The Hispanic Heritage Foundation to
determine (1) Grand Prize winner and (15) First Prize winners. All judging
will be based on the following 3 criteria: originality and creativity (40%);
inspirational quality (40%); and appropriateness to topic (20%). In the
event of a tie, tied entries will be prejudged in accordance with criteria
listed above.

*6. When will the winner be notified?*

· Potential winners will be notified by mail on or about 12/18/09.

*7. What are the education prizes being awarded?*

· (1) Grand Prize — $10,000 educational grant

· (15) First Prizes — $1,000 educational grant

*8. Who is eligible to enter?*

· Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and
Washington, D.C., who are High School students 16 years of age or older as
of 9/15/09 (residents of Maine must be 18 years of age or older);
additionally, one of entrant's biological parents must consider themselves
Hispanic.
