JOB DEVELOPER
Job Description
 
Brooklyn Workforce Innovations (BWI) – a non-profit Brooklyn-based workforce development organization – seeks a qualified, experienced, motivated individual to provide job placement services for jobless and working poor New Yorkers including ex-prisoners.  BWI helps job seekers establish careers in sectors that offer good wages and opportunities for advancement.  BWI provides free sector-based skills training and job readiness followed by at least two years of job placement and career-advancement support.  Currently, we help individuals start careers in commercial driving, voice and data cable installation, TV and film production, and skilled woodworking.  The Job Developer will provide placement services to graduates from BWI’s network cable installer program (Brooklyn Networks) and direct placements for job seekers in multiple sectors.
 
Responsibilities Brooklyn Networks
Ø      Job development and career advancement services for Brooklyn Networks program participants with 70 plus annual enrollments.
Ø      Build linkages with businesses in the telecommunications sector.
Ø      Develop job leads and match program participants.
Ø      Provide job training and retention assistance to program participants.
Ø      Provide counseling to program participants one-on-one and in groups to assist in developing career goals, job search strategies and interviewing skills.
Ø      Facilitate job readiness and world-of-work training workshops.
Ø      Document placement activity, including verification of employment and job retention and advancement.
 
Responsibilities Direct Placement
Ø      Recruit clients and perform job readiness evaluation based on review of job seekers skills, resume, and previous employment history.
Ø      Develop an individual employment plan based on customers' needs and goals.
Ø      Support customers through the employment lifecycle, referrals to job opportunities, interview coaching and post placement support.
Ø      Provide ongoing placement counseling, and tracking of placement data.
Ø      Monitor placements and conduct ongoing evaluations to meet the needs of both clients and employers.  
Ø      Build and maintain a network of employers in multiple sectors.
Ø        Conduct ongoing market research to determine areas of high employer demand


Qualifications
Ø      Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.  Highly organized and detail oriented.
Ø      Experience working with low-income populations and/or the formerly incarcerated preferred. 
Ø      Excellent data management and computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Database & Internet).
Ø      Friendly, professional demeanor.  Demonstrated ability to work well independently in a fast-paced office.
Ø      Enthusiasm and respect for working with low-income adult population. 
Ø      Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Based on experience.  BWI offers a good benefits package including health, dental and retirement.
