Shane, I started a similar plugin for Android some time back (before I
knew about your work - long story) and am interested in merging with
your stuff. I am not sure exactly where any overlap or divergence is,
as I haven't used Masa myself, but I imagine we could pool efforts
pretty easily.

Are you interested in a merge? If so let me know what the long term
plans for Masa are (why is it on Gcode now, and not an official Apache
project, for instance?) and I would consider shutting down Android-
Maven and just joining you (again, if you are amenable, let me know).

Hi Charlie,

Sure, let's take a look about merging over the next couple of weeks. I
moved out of Apache sandbox, so I could start releasing and get some
visibility for the project. Some of the areas I'm looking to improve
(at least on the Masa side) are performance in terms of incremental
compiles, fixing a problem with the release plugin and creating a
plugin for launching the emulator with various options. Also some
people have reported problems working with Masa playing nice with the
Eclipse plugin.

Long-term goals are to get more integration with http://code.google.com/p/jvending
. One idea I have is to be able to deploy artifacts into a
provisioning server as part of a release. Also possible auto-
generation of the provisioning.xml file.

Regards,
Shane

Thanks Shane.

Over the next few weeks I will try to get more familiar with Masa and
JVending. Once I am ready I will then just kill Android-Maven (make
it a pointer to Masa) and let you know if there is anything in it
worth moving over (it's pretty simple though really, does have it's
own packaging, does have many emulator options - though not all, and
AIDL support and so on, but just creates scripts and runs Android
command line commands for stuff).

Once I have time to get familiar, I should be able to help with Masa
stuff, such as with Eclipse compat, etc.

Cool. I'll go ahead and add you as a committer to Masa. I did see the emulator options, so that would be worth moving over, as Masa just assumes that the emulator is running.

Thanks Shane. I am ultra busy most of May with JavaOne and Google I/O
- but will try to sneak in some time to look this stuff over and move
what needs to move. If I don't make it in the next few weeks though, I
haven't forgotten, just haven't gotten around to it, yet.
