Good morning chapter presidents and council leaders -

I hope this email finds you well. I am sending this email as a reminder for each of you to prioritize your organization's registration on terplink.umd.edu. This is the website run by SORC (Student Organization Resource Center) that houses all student organization information. Part of your recognition status at the university means ensuring that your chapter is a fully registered organization so please get this done as soon as possible.

Attached to this email is a spreadsheet pulled from SORC with all of the registration statuses. Please review the attached document, review the email below and proceed accordingly. Email SORC at sorc.umd.edu if you have any questions.

Thanks!

-------

Registration form is officially extended on TerpLink, and will remain open until July 1 at 11:45PM. Organizations that do not have an approved registration by this date will be frozen.

Frozen organizations cannot take advantage of any benefits associated with being a Registered Student Organizations including, but not limited to: participation in the First Look Fair, eligibility for SGA funding, printing funds, space reservations, participation in the Second Look Fair, and being searchable in TerpLink.

As a reminder, only the President or Treasurer listed on the TerpLink roster can submit a registration form.  Encourage your organization’s leadership to register soon, or risk not being able to participate in the First Look Fair this fall. We also encourage all groups to update their leadership on TerpLink before starting the registration process. The person who completes the registration will become the new Primary Contact for the organization and receive important communication from SORC over the year, so it is important that the person who completes the registration is a member of the leadership team.

We have updated our requirements for this registration cycle.  Please make sure to review all the requirements BEFORE beginning the registration form. If you have any specific registration questions, please first review our FAQ sheet. If you still have questions, we encourage you to come to the Student Involvement Suite when we are open or live chat with us.

If your registration is denied, it indicates that there is some problem with your request. Below, you will find a list of all of the potential issues, and what you might do to easily remedy them:

  • Roster Not Compliant - You may not have listed the required number of people. You may not have identified a President, Treasurer, or Faculty/Staff Advisor. You may have listed the same person as the President and Treasurer. You may have submitted a roster with a non-UMD email address.

  • Constitution Not Compliant - Your organization's Constitution may be missing one or both of the required clauses or it doesn't include a ratification date.

  • President and/or Treasurer training(s) Not Complete - Presidents and Treasurers will have to complete online trainings and quizzes prior to their registration status being active/approved. Refer to the Registration Checklist for links to the trainings and quizzes.

  • Advisor Agreement Not Complete - Your advisor may not have completed the advisor agreement. Your advisor, and only your advisor, can complete the agreement.

  • Non-compliant Group Name - Please re-submit application ensuring compliance with the requirement that “Organizations may not use the University’s Marks including but not limited to “University of Maryland,” “Terrapins,” “Maryland Terrapins,” “Terps,” “Testudo” in its organizational name without prior approval or to denote where the organization is located, such as [Name of Organization] at the University of Maryland.”
