Dear Maryland Math Teacher Educators,

I'm sending this to everyone on the listserv knowing that it's really only applicable to MICUA professors... If that's you, please keep reading... (I know professors at public institutions have different types of requirements.)

I'm on Hood College committees which are exploring several issues related to faculty workload/compensation and I've been asked to reach out to other private colleges in Maryland to see how they handle these things.
  1. Are cost of living adjustments built into your college's annual budget?
  2. How are department/program coordinators/directors compensated? (All the same? How do you determine the workload of different departments/programs?)
  3. How do you ensure all faculty members are contributing to service? (Is there a consequence if a tenured faculty member isn't on any committees? Do you have a point system for weighing different types of service?)
If you have thoughts about these issues, please let me know and we can set up a time to chat.

THANK YOU!
Christy
