Dear Maryland Math Teacher Educators,

As the fall semester comes to a close, I wanted to share a few updates from the Association of Maryland Mathematics Teacher Educators
  1. Throughout November, we had a fantastic series of presentations on edTPA, artificial intelligence in teacher education, and intern evaluation systems. Current AMMTE members received recordings of the sessions. If you would like to receive access to these videos, please join or renew your membership via Member Planet.

  2. Our annual Early Career Teacher Conference will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the University of Maryland. We have great sessions planned and registration is now open at https://www.memberplanet.com/events/ammte/ectc2025. We ask that you:
    1. Encourage your preservice teachers to attend
    2. Encourage novice teachers to attend
    3. Share the attached flyer with your contacts in local school systems

  3. NOTE: Representatives from educator preparation programs and other professional organizations are welcome to register for the conference and bring flyers/giveaways for distribution on tables in the conference's keynote room.

  4. As mentioned during the Meet at Greet session at the October MCTM conference, the AMMTE board is proposing minor changes to the election calendar in the Constitution and Bylaws. All AMMTE members will receive a ballot to approve or reject these changes. Look for the ballot to arrive by email on Monday January 6, 2025. Voting will close on Friday January 17, 2025.

  5. We are currently seeking nominations for President-Elect. Please see the constitution and bylaws for information about the position. If the above changes are approved, the one-year term as President-Elect will begin on May 15, 2025. This would be followed by a two-year term as President and a one-year term as Past-President. If you are interested or have questions about the position, please let me know.
Good luck with final exams!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

Best,
Ming Tomayko
President, AMMTE
