Hi Everyone,
Well it is time to start rockin' and rollin'!! MMET's first big
performance is just next week. Some of the MMET students have been
invited to perform on a special stage right after the Homecoming Game
next Friday night! Now I know this is last minute, Mr. Knight and I
were talking yesterday at Walk for the Arts and besides realizing that
the show was just next week we realized we needed some parent help
too. We haven't done this show for a couple of years and so we just
weren't thinking about anything but how fun it was to have the
Homecoming Show back.
Here is what we need next Friday October 1st. (It would be helpful if
I had a specific time but honestly, I forgot to ask. The show is
after the game so I'm gonna say 8 PM till LATE. And I will be able to
firm that up in the next couple of days.)
We need: Three parents to stay inside the classroom during the show.
I know, this job is the least fun because you won't get to see the
show. But the class will be unlocked and will have foot traffic in
and out of it so we need "security guards" to sit in the studio, the
computer lab and hall during the show making sure that only authorized
persons enter that area.
Next we need three parents to work back stage keeping the peace,
making sure ONLY the performers & authorized persons are back there.
You will be able to hear the show with this job, but I do need three
people that aren't afraid to be assertive should the need arise. I'm
not thinking necessarily with our kids, they are always well behaved,
but they won't be able to have their friends hanging out back stage
nor will MMET students NOT in the show be allowed back there. Your
job will be to make sure that doesn't happen.
Jobs will go on a first come first gets it basis! :-)
Next up is Aloha Wednesday October 6th where we will need three
parents. Two parents will help our box office chair, Dana Oda, work
the door taking money and stamping hands and one parent will be needed
to mind the side door to make sure no one goes in or out of it while
the music is playing. We don't want to disturb Don's neighbors and so
we have to make sure that door stays closed during the show.
Volunteers need to arrive by 5:45 and stay until about 8:30.
In both cases there will be a sheet that you will need to sign in and
out. We have two volunteer coordinators working with MMET this year,
Calista Dalley and Kelly Arnold. If one of them doesn't have the sign
in sheet then Diane or I will.
Thanks so much I look forward to hearing from you.
Mary
