Maru Os as a Linux distro running on my laptop and mobile would be a dream. :)
Could Maru Os become a Linux distro based on Debian?
Could Maru Os run on Sailfish Os?
Sailfish is open source and Linux.

Maru Desktop by itself could potentially run on your laptop since it is based on Debian. You would just need a build for x86/amd64!

It may also be possible to run the entire Maru OS on desktop/laptop systems by integrating with the android-x86 project.

Could Maru Os run on Sailfish Os?

I am not very familiar with Sailfish OS but I believe it could be ported over if someone would like to do that. It may be a hassle though since Maru was really designed for Android and uses a lot of Android's developer tools (the AOSP build system for example).

I'm happy to give pointers if anyone is interested in doing this, but I myself will be focused on Maru for Android devices.

Thanks for your clear replies.
My following question then:
Will MaruOs run on CyanogenMod?
That's based on Android. :-)

Later i will try to get MaruOs running on my laptop.
Is there somebody who has experience with this?

It could run using the ARM build if you were using a netbook or chromebook that has an ARM processor - likewise for those who run a single board computer like the Bannana Pie, Raspberry etc. connected to a lapdock....

Yes, this should be possible. But I would like to keep mainline Maru separate from the CM project because both projects have very different goals and I really value AOSP's stability.

I think Maru will require a good amount of changes before you can run Maru on your laptop :). Someone else has also requested a version of Maru based on android-x86 to help make this happen. @jason brings up a good point too that if you have a laptop with an ARM processor (more and more popular nowadays with chromebooks) the process would be easier.

To add to Preetam's answer....getting Maru to work on CyanogenMod 12.1 probably wouldn't be all that difficult since it's based on Android 5.1.1. CM13 is a little bit of a different story since that's based on Marshmallow.
