I have just tried installing maru OS and it is absolutely bananas!
I would love to see this with i3wm
I tried installing i3, but was not successful in getting the phone to login to i3 automatically (Or at all)
Anyone had luck with this? What are the configs that need to be changed?

Yes it is possible to install i3!

One of our users told me this was possible and tweeted a screenshot of it in action: https://twitter.com/nubis_bruno/status/759522658652459008

I think I tried it once too on v0.2.3. I can't remember whether I had to create a ~/.dmrc in my home folder to select i3 by default or whether I edited /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and added the default session there.

I will try setting this up again and get back to you.

Thanks! And keep up the good work.
I actually tried both methods.
The result for both was landing on a login screen when I connect to a monitor.
Problem is I cannot get passed the login screen.

OK, I got it set up!

First, install i3:

$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install i3

Then, create ~/.dmrc with the following:

[Desktop]
Session=i3

Then reboot! Your phone should log into i3 from here on out automatically.

Pics or it didn't happen:

Thanks!
That worked perfectly. I tried to edit ~/.dmrc, but used 'Session=i3.desktop'
As mentioned, it failed.
But your config worked right away.

Would also suggest to install suckless-tools for dmenu to work
sudo apt-get install suckless-tools

The not-so-powerfull hardware and i3 are a match made in heaven. This thing flies!
Mandatory screen-shot attached :)
