Hi guys MaruOS is like crazy outdated. But features of it's giving is amazing. Is there anyone who forked it or improved it for newer Android APIs and hardwares?

We have some ports that are being tested in the dev side but nothing much. Do you have experience building android? If so I can message you directly with what I have learned.

We're working on maru-0.7, and porting MaruOS to LOS 16 based on Android 9.0.
We will still support pixel and pixel XL, nexus 5, and add a new support device HTC 10.
We hope we can release it at 2021 Q1, and if you have interesting, you can check the
GitHub issue for maru-0.7 plan, https://github.com/maruos/maruos/issues/154.

Hi again. And thanks for your responses. I have no past with Android Development but I'll be glad to help and try things to help community. I wasn't aware of Android9 development process. But however my device(1+ 8 Pro) is shipped with Android 10 and updated to 11. I think I can help porting to 10 or 11 for OnePlus 8 Pro. Actually I don't know where to start actually. Do you have any good articles or some github processes about it? This will my first try and I hope I'll success.

Hi Emirefek,

If you want to try to port MaruOS to your device, you can visit MaruOS's developer doc : https://maruos.com/docs/developer/.
It provides some critical information about MaruOS.

The MaruOS is based on LineageOS, and it uses a similar method to setup and develop with LineageOS, so if you are not
familiar with LineageOS, you can see the LineageOS's wiki: https://wiki.lineageos.org/.

And the LineageOS is based on AOSP, so the AOSP's setup doc can also be very useful: https://source.android.com/setup.

There are existing some repositories for some supported devices:

1. Marlin/Sailfish

2. HTC 10

3. Hammerhead

You can check commits pushed by maintainers to see what they do for porting.

After maru-0.7's first stable release, I will try to add more detailed documents to show how to port a new device for MaruOS with
marlin/sailfish as an example. If you need more detailed documents about MaruOS' internal, you can visit
https://github.com/maruos/maruos/issues/153 to get MaruOS' structure summary by twaik. It is concise and complete.

Hope the above information can be useful for you.
