someone can share logs of when Maru OS is normally operated?  it is useful for porting MARU OS to other device.

log file are as below
/data/maru/containers/jessie/rootfs/var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log
/data/maru/containers/jessie/rootfs/var/log/Xorg.0.log

Hi,

I'll try to send you some logs from my N5 today, if I managed to get some time for that.

To which device, are you porting to? Maybe helpful for other ports :). May we add it to the list https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/maru-os-dev/YufKu3w2xkQ ?

Thanks Chero for working on a port! Out of curiosity, which device are you porting to?

I did a clean userdebug build with the latest on GitHub, a fresh flash, and have attached all the logs you requested.

Let me know if you need anything else.

P.S. @chev thanks for getting the lightdm/xorg logs first!

Thank you for your support chev , Preetam

Sorry for late reply.

I have plan to port LG G3A(F410S) for MARU OS. but this device is not a official supported model in CM(CyanogenMod).
so I have been porting CM for LG G3A. before porting CM. I try to port MARU OS on other device. but this device was unfortunately not released (project was canceled for some reason).
I had to backport MARU OS based on Android 4.4.2. when I port maru os on my devices  it need to add sanity check routine(setenv) in lxc (src/lxc/start.c src/lxccontainter.c)

in my case , there is no sanity check about input string in setenv function of android 4.4.2 so I modified lxc routine.

and

my log lightdm.log

[+0.58s] DEBUG: Session pid=195: Authentication complete with return value 4: System error

[+0.48s] DEBUG: Session pid=190: Started with service 'lightdm-autologin', username 'maru'
[+0.53s] DEBUG: Session pid=190: Authentication complete with return value 0: Success

I had compared both log. I did not find why happened system error during lightdm-autologin in my device.
and There is "Failed to establish PAM credentials: System error" In x-0.log

any idea? I don't have a experience about lightdm and pam.

Thanks again chev & Preetam

Hi chero,

I ran into the sanity checking issue in LXC sometimes too! This was officially merged in to LXC in a later version than the one used in Maru: https://github.com/lxc/lxc/commit/ab7efcf51d369a4dae93c14653f6519fc5ec4d47. I believe that this is triggered by a race condition during bootup where the container path (/data/maru/*) has not been completely synced from /system/maru before the container daemon (perspectived) initializes itself.

I am going to try to reproduce the authentication / PAM errors you are getting and will post back with more info, I am not too familiar with these errors either.

BTW, how are you debugging Linux right now? Are you using lxc-start from the command line? You can use lxc-start to get access to a login shell:

root# lxc-start -n jessie

This may help debugging quite a bit! Note that the lxc-* binaries are only included when you do a userdebug build.

Great work by the way! That must not have been easy backporting to Android 4.4.2!

Is that right password of maru? and this is my lxc log when I try to run "lxc-start -n jessie".

I see that you have an extra error:

[FAILED] Failed to mount Configuration File System.
See 'systemctl status sys-kernel-config.mount' for details.

I am not sure how this is related to your errors though.

Also, can you try logging in with root account:

username: root
password: root

Which desktop rootfs are you using? Did you build your own or use the prebuilt one: https://github.com/maruos/blueprints/releases/tag/v0.3-alpha?

I think if we figure out why you can't login with user maru from lxc-start we can fix the authentication issue you see in lightdm-autologin.

EDIT: google groups is messing up the formatting of the log for some reason, trying to fix
