It seems the Adobe Lens Profile Creator utility is still on version 1.0 after more than 10-years of neglect ( -negative.html#Adobe_Lens_Profile_Creator). Does anyone have any idea whether or not Adobe intends to update their Lens Profile Creator utility, as it is not compatible with the latest version of Mac OS 10.15 Catalina (and soon might not be compatible with any modern computer)? Might anybody out there have any suggestions for alternatives in the meantime?
The original post was about the Adobe Lens Profile Creator, not the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. Adobe says that it has abandoned the latter, but has said nothing about the former, which is still esssential software for some circumstances (including my own circumstances). I have the same question.
Hi DTM777. I have a project where I want to use Adobe Lens Profile Creator. Luckily I keep everything, and I have a Mac Mini (2012) running El Capitan, and at first glance, ALPC works fine on this machine. I suspect your only road forward is to purchase an older Macintosh and install an older OS on it. (Maybe the Windows version is still current -- Adobe must be using something to generate profiles for new lenses!)
I cannot keep track of which versions of MacOS invalidated which kinds of apps, so I can't be sure which versions of MacOS might run ALPC, but it seems that El Capitan does. I just found out that web browsing is basically impossible under El Capitan, so there is some juggling involved with getting this to all work
Hi, I have Orcad Capture v16.6 and I am trying to set up the Tcl/TK utility PDF Export to use PDFCreator.exe as its PS to PDF converter. The problem I have is that the PDFCreator print list appears and runs for a few seconds and then locks up. It creates a pdf file but that file is broken and Adobe Acrobat cannot read it or fix it (not a complete file probably).
I have checked the postscript output (CapOutput.ps) by using an online converter and I get a good pdf from that although I can't get the CapPropMark.ps to create a properties pdf. I don't want to stay with the online solution because I run into file size problems with a full size design (CapOutput.ps = 86Mb, CapPropMark.ps = 320Mb).
Does anybody else use PDFCreator for this job and is there a particular setup needed? At present I select "Ghostscript / equivalent" for the converter and substitute the path to PDFCreator as follows

There may come a time when you would either need or simply want to "start over" with the software image on your computer. This "start over" (or "Recovery") will restore the software on your computer back to its original factory condition. The down side of this process is that you will LOSE ALL DATA and programs that were not preinstalled at the factory.
There are several ways to perform the recovery process. One method is to use CD or DVD** disks or USB flash drive media created especially for this purpose. You can make recovery disks, with blank CD or DVD disks that you provide, using the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator utility. A hi-capacity USB flash drive can also be used and is required on machines that do not have a DVD drive.
You can make as many "sets" of recovery media as you like (please note that the media is specific to YOUR machine and cannot be used to "recover" other computers.) Toshiba recommends you keep at least one set of media to use in case of an emergency.

I was trying to create a USB bootable in Debian to install my new system. I couldn't find any easy to use tool in Debian. I tried downloading the hybrid ISO image from the Debian site and copied it to the USB using the dd command as said in Debian site, but it didn't boot.
I have used the copy (cp) command for this. It did take me a couple of tries, though. The trick that seemed to make the difference for me was to plug the usb drive in, format it as MBR, but not create any partitions. In Debian (Gnome), this is easy to do from gnome-disks (called simply Disks in the GUI, while the package name is gnome-disk-utility). It can also be done using the gparted GUI program. Of course, you will lose any data currently on the USB drive when you format it.
So you're copying to a drive (that is unmounted), not to a particular partition. Then in the Disks GUI, when you click on the newly created partition on the USB drive, you should see (Bootable) next to the entry for Partition Type. If not, it may help to do the following:
You can always download the ZIP file of the release from the Limetech site and follow the manual process to get files onto the USB stick. Going this route does not need the USB Creator tool at all. Make sure you have a backup of your current USB stick (or at least the config folder which contains your key and settings). If you have a backup you can then copy your config folder on top of the files extracted from the zip to keep all your settings intact.
Now this USB creator tool needs 1.) an internet connection and 2.) access to the latest unRAID files (on AWS). There's no chance to restore a locally existing backup archive without 1.) an internet connection and 2.) without access to that AWS cloud service. I do have the backup archive but I can't install it because the files on AWS are not there.
