I haven't done a posting in a while, but "Ringo Starr Live at
Soundstage" was quietly slipped out recently (I think October 30, but
not quite sure). It is the last album on Ringo's Koch Records
contract. He recently re-signed with Capitol Records for the first
time since 1976. Ringo has a new greatest hits compilation that was
released in August on Capitol/Apple called "Photograph - The Very Best
of Ringo Starr" and he will be releasing an all-new studio compilation
called "Liverpool 8".

And of course, I guess everyone bought Paul McCartney's "Memory Almost
Full". If you didn't, you should, as it is Paul's best album since
"Flaming Pie" in 1997.

Let me know what you think.

PS I'm still working on my Beatles book (and a whole lotta other
projects). It is currently 300 pages.

Since Paul McCartney left for the greener pastures of Strabucks, I guess EMI wanted at least one ex-Beatle still on their label. I wonder if Ringo's albums will be on Parlophone in England?

As far as I know, the rest of Paul's catalog will remain with Capitol
Records for now. The Starbucks deal apparently is on an album by album
basis for new material only. I can see why Paul did it as there aren't
any good prominent record chains anymore. For instance, locally KFOG
issues a "Live From the Archives" disc every year to help out Bay Area
Food Banks. They originally were distributed through Wherehouse
locations until they closed, then they moved to Tower Records
locations, now they have closed, so this year, the distribution is
through Peet's Coffee!!

What a strange world we live in that we have to buy our music on disc
from a coffee house rather than a music store!!

-Mark.
