Hey mark. Aaron C here.
I'm a big beatles fan too. (though let's not forget the kinks, the
stones, velvet underground, etc)
Have you ever heard the christmas bootlegs?
They were actually released each year as singles through the fan club,
but were complied through the years as a bootleg album.
I used to have a copy of it.
It is absolutley peculiar.
The early years... they would be silly and talk and joke around and
wish everyone a happy christmas... but as the years progressed, and we
got deeper into the 60's... they turned into these complex trippy
skit-esc pieces. Almost remind me of montey Python a bit... More like
collages

I think I bought a tape in the late 80's at the flea market that had
nothing but Xmas tunes, it was definately bootleg. I think I have it
packed somewhere, when I find it I'll put it up in the p2p.

I'm a big fan of those other groups as well. Not so much Velvet
Underground, but that's mainly due to my unfamiliarity with all of
their songs, but I know things like "Femme Fatale" and "Sweet Jane".

Of course I have the Beatles Christmas Record (on bootleg CD, too, but
don't tell anyone). I wish that they would commercially release those.
I look every year, but no luck. I think what's holding it up is the
Tiny Tim material from the 1968 record. That's the only thing I can
think of. Certainly, the statute of limitations is up for keeping these
recordings as Fan Club exclusives!!

I've got a bootleg of that too, on Vinal. I usually listen to it every
year. That reminds me to check it out this year too. It does remind me
of Monty Python, which now that I think about it, reminds me of The
Bonzo Dog Band who appeared in Magical Mystery Tour. Also "You Know My
Name, Look Up the Number" sounds a lot like Python/Bonzo.

You'd think McCartney would like to get on the bandwagon to get a legit
CD release of these recordings especially since his marital woes with
Pegleg...I mean, Heather...

Same with Starr. He never has a hit album anymore. He should want this
out, too. Actually Starr DID put out a very good Xmas album in 1999
called "I Wanna Be Santa Claus", not that anyone bought it. It does
have a new version of the song "Christmas Time is Here Again" from
those flexis...

I also have the original "Beatles Christmas Album" from 1970 on vinyl,
but bought it a zillion years ago when it was only worth a small
fortune.
