Here’s some things to consider for feedback to me prior to the next Competition Committee meeting on January 5th. Personally, I’m okay with the 8 group schedule and SRX7 moved in with us (that will happen). I’m also suggesting to Bob Crawford that for the VIR race, a Saturday win is only worth 150 points as it is at all the Summit and NJMP two day events.
Regards,
Chuck

Subject: Groups/Schedule options to consider, share and discuss before the next meeting
All,
Thank you for your participation at the meeting on 12/8/2018! Our responsibility as a committee is to consider, discuss and collectively make decisions intended to create the best road racing program for everyone. I know all of you share with me a commitment to create the best SCCA road racing program in the country. We made a lot of progress at the first meeting and still have some important decisions to make at the meeting in January.
Please find attached to this message three items. The first contains examples of the possible race grouping changes for 2019. The second contains ideas for weekend schedule changes if we elect to have fewer race groups. Going with fewer, more highly subscribed groups, creates options for additional on-track sessions. The last item is a copy of the meeting agenda so you can see what we have left for our three hour meeting in January.
Please take some time between now and the meeting on 1/5/2019 to review the attachments. Please discuss the various options with your constituency. Please come to the meeting prepared to make decisions on the items in the agenda beginning with #3 in the decisions section, Run Groups.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting in January.
Meeting #2 –January 5th, 2019 -Waterford at Fair Oaks,12025 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway Fairfax, VA.0800 -1100
Our meeting is just prior to the awards luncheon in the same facility. Don't forget to register for the WDCR awards luncheon. You can register for the event by clicking HERE

Chuck,
8 groups worth SRX7 with ITS/B/C is fine from a grouping standpoint. It is simply slow-death for a racing program point of view. We’re averaging less than 180 cars for a normal MARRS and barely broke 200 for the DOUBLE.
In the last 13 years, the price level has increased about 25% and the entry fee is up nearly 100%.
Normal entries are down 25% and the double is about half of what it once was. They’re going to need to go to a 7 sprint and 1 enduro/other group or the Region will be on a slow path to bankruptcy.
Next year is going to be even more brutal for entries – far more people will be thinking Runoffs because it is at VIR.
Happy Holidays,
Jeff

What are the proposed groupings? Are they moving ITA in with someone else?
SRX7s make very similar lap times as ITB but in a different way. They run on slower tires and have a bit more straight line speed so it’s not ideal. However if it needs to be done to decrease number of groups and potentially increase track time for all them I’m for it.
Neither for nor against the VIR points idea. I think they used to have a qualifying for each day which made it seem like more of a double.
