Guys,

Let me know what you think about this.  We are having a Comp Committee meeting next Sat morning.

Regards,

Chuck

Subject: Proposed Race Groupings for 2025

All,

Attached is a spreadsheet with proposed race groupings for 2025.  There are a few proposed changes.  Small Bore, IT, and Big Bore reps in particular should look closely. The proposed changes affect small or rarely subscribed classes that run at the margins of their current groupings. In summary, the proposal is to:

Move T3, SMX, SM5 from Big Bore to Small Bore

Move GTP, SRX7, LC from Small Bore to IT

These changes would slightly reduce the size of the Small Bore group and slightly increase the size of the IT group.

I would strongly recommend keeping GTP in Small Bore and perhaps move SMX (let’s face it, SM5 is a dead class) to the IT group. Given how few T3 cars enter MARRS races they could be slotted into either but would probably be a better fit for Small Bore.

I think we may need to update further when we see the 2024 January GCR … who knows what new groups may be listed.

As for SM5, I think we have been asked to remove it from our Supps.

Thanks for the reminder Gregg 😊

Hey Chuck

Here are my thoughts.  We've raced with the GT Pintos in ITB before.  The GT Pinto field is smaller and drivers are better in the current pintos, so maybe my concern is mute.  They're extremely fast on the straights, but slow in the corners.  If you're in an ITB car, you cannot get around them - even if you're significantly quicker by lap time, and it's terribly frustrating.  I'd be interested in what other ITB drivers feel about that, and I will fall in line with everybody else.  It would be nice to have Bruce, Drew, and Jim in our race group.   I've raced with the RX-7s before, and they're fine to race with.
