FYI the latest version of c2ast is using all the latest features of Marpa and should now resolve typedef/identifier as should do a compiler.

Examples in the links.

Let me finish some tests, nevertheless I consider this version good enough.
Jeffrey, if you want me to write/blog seriously about it - I am willing to do this. Marpa needs something that is attractive to have its usage grow, I believe c2ast is an excellent advertising for it.

Ok, about the insides:
- Jeffrey wrote in Marpa docs that its tracing facilities is a big plus. I confirm. c2ast is using very extensiviely progress() to do some "backward" search, needed because of the C language constraints.
- c2ast is using both pause and events, that fit extremely well with how C grammar should be parsed IMHO

Regards, Jean-Damien.

Why keep it quiet?  I'd look forward to a blog piece on it.  Now that the indexed release of Marpa::R2 is out, and c2ast is a release candidate, I plan to take a careful look at c2ast.  -- jeffrey

chromatic is (one of) the editors for perl.com. I posted to
blogs.perl.org and he saw it and offered to re-post it to perl.com.

You could, after posting to blogs.perl.org, wait a couple of weeks, and
if he doesn't respond, email him asking if he thinks it's appropriate
material for perl.com. It will be of course.

But don't expect a fast response. He's very busy, and as you might have
seen from previous posts by me here, he retypes things /even though I
upload the POD of my article and send him the link/ :-((.

So, I do suggest you:
o Write in POD
o Upload HTML and POD to your web site
o Post TXT to blogs.perl.org.

And using blogs.perl.org is simple. Just click on 'Not a member?', pick
a password, and log in.

Things to note:
o Commenting on other blogs requires 1 login
o Posting requires 2 logins :-(

Writing a blog:

o Pick a title
o Then there are 2 sections 'Body' and 'Extended'. Current suggestion
(not from me) is to post a brief note in the first and the full text in
the latter.

Just reply to this for any other help.

Hi Durand

Forgot to mention:

While writing, auto-saving takes place. You can select Draft if you
don't want it published before you log off.

Don't use Preview. There is a bug which will force a time-out and you'll
lose the text. Perhaps compose in your editor and paste into Movable
Type (MT: the basis of blogs.perl.org).

Lastly, there is a i/f design fault. After composing (in MT) there are 2
buttons at the bottom. These are the same 2 buttons you'll see when
commenting on another post. Just ignore them. If you wish to re-edit,
and don't we all, Click the white-on-red(?) button at the top of you
post to re-edit.

Hi All

I can see 2 replies from me to this thread on Google Groups. They were
sent an hour ago, but I still haven't received the email copies. Any ideas?

Strange - will see if this happens for me as well.
Google groups has changed yesterday, is it related.
The settings for groups can be checked anyway c.f. attachement, does not mean it is working as expected //

Hmmm... I did my first blog post on Marpa at blogs.perl.org !
Maybe I should have taken "Entry" instead of "Page", though -;

Ah, fixed as an entry at this link - in here I expose my personnal view on Marpa, based on the little experience I have.
Nothing really technnical, but how I work.
Next posts will probably contain more technical hints, or publicity on Marpa stuff.
