Hi,
Here are some important news on the Marlin & MarlinFX projects:
- Marlin 0.8.2 provides an efficient path clipper working perfectly (intensively tested). Enjoy !
- I successfully adapted my maven build pom.xml to make jdk9/10 system module patches: Marlin & MarlinFX 0.8.2 released for jdk9/10 !
Marlin releases are now compatible with jdk 6 to 10.
MarlinFX has its first easy to use release compatible with jdk 9 to 10.
- Marlin 0.8.2 has been integrated into OpenJDK10 & OpenJFX10 (last monday): 2x 4000 LOC !
- I started working on many small enhancements: 4k hidpi tuning, dasher float precision fix, simple path simplifier, miter & round join optimization...
I hope to make the first release Marlin 0.9 (before xmas) if I can afford the time (tired).
Moreover many things remains to be done... too many ideas or possible optimizations in 2D & FX!
I made a very long strike (2 months) ~ 5x 4h per week = 150 hours of work on my spare time.
I launched the funding campaign to have nice Xmas gifts (javaone trip exhausted my home budget) with an objective of 1225€ (xmas date):
5 gentle persons gave ~300€ so it represents 2€ per hour or 20€ per day. I know it is FOSS but no IT engineer would find it enough compared to consulting ~ 500€ per day ! At that wage, the bill would be 7000€.
Please help me (test, doc, code), give me your feedback or contribute back (gift or money).
It is a real Call for contribution, I am really doubting if I can go on working on my FOSS projects without help or funding.
My own time is precious and my health will suffer (stress / burn out?), so my wife wants me to ramp down my efforts and she is right: my sons need me more.
Finally I proposed a talk at FOSDEM18 where we could meet and enjoy beers (bruxels).
Please share this (desperate) call for help.
Enjoy Marlin,
Goodbye & good luck,
Laurent
