Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to lead a data warehouse modernization project, transitioning from IBM Sailfish on the IBM iSeries DB2 database to Snowflake. The successful candidate will work with a talented team to modernize our client’s data infrastructure and support the development and implementation of a scalable, cloud-based data platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of data warehouse systems from IBM iSeries DB2 and IBM Sailfish to Snowflake.
• Design and implement effective data models in Snowflake to optimize for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Architect, design, and optimize data pipelines using DBT and Prefect to ensure efficient ETL processes.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop a data strategy that supports robust analytics and reporting.
• Implement best practices for data quality, data governance, and security within the data platform.
• Work with Google BigQuery on integration projects as required, ensuring compatibility with Snowflake.
• Analyze data collected from website clicks & generate business insights using Google Analytics
• Define solution & Implement Change Data Capture
• Drive continuous improvement in data engineering processes and ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, and availability
• Ability to own the tech stack & oversee multiple migration project tracks & talk to client with big picture

Required Skills and Experience

• 12+ years of experience in data engineering, with hands-on experience in data warehouse migration projects.
• Strong expertise with IBM iSeries DB2, IBM Sailfish, and Snowflake.
• Proven experience in data modeling with Snowflake, including star schema and snowflake schema design principles.
• Proficiency in using DBT for data transformation and Prefect for workflow orchestration.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google BigQuery.
• Solid knowledge of data warehouse design, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with performance tuning for large-scale databases
• Experience in Google Analytics
• Experience in Change Data Capture
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex data requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with cloud migration projects.
• Experience in data governance, data security, and data quality management.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and drive projects to completion
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
