Safari 12.0 won't install markdown-here extension

I updated Safari to version 12.0, and the markdown extension disappeared (along with most all of my useful extensions). I downloaded the extension, but Safar refuses to install it. I tells me:
“Markdown Here” is no longer supported. You can find newer extensions reviewed by Apple in the App Store or Safari Extensions Gallery
Any chance the extension will be updated for Safari, or will I have to switch to using Chrome?
