I have photos(see attached) of Harvesters feeding directly amongst aphids, presumably on the honeydew. I have also watched them being chased away by ants protecting the aphids and also by wasps who want the honeydew for themselves. I likewise never noticed the short proboscis but can see it clearly in many of my pictures..jim
