On the way to Miramichi today Sarah Robinson and I stopped on a logging road off Route 126 about 2 km northwest Route 515 E. The road had wide heathy margins with a lot of Rhodora, and the adjacent woods were fairly mature moderately wet to very wet spruce woods, so it looked pretty good for elfins! In an hour we had Dreamy Duskywing, Northern Spring Azure, Eastern Pine Elfin, Bog Elfin, and Brown Elfin. Like Dwayne we also got our first Canadian Tiger Swallowtails, we saw several along Route 126.
Nows the time to see elfins, so make sure you're out there in the next week or two. Some of the elfins we saw were starting to look pretty worn.
Cheers,
John
