LNG on the Columbia River. Environmentalists in Seattle trying to
impose Al Gore's global warming hysteria on our industry. Illegal
aliens seanking in on cargo ships. Tubidity monitoring on the dredges
working in Oregon and Washington. There are numerous issues that can
be talked about in this area- what's your beef?
I was wondering if anyone who is surfing through these messages is a
mariner? I keep seeing pretty good numbers for # of views but it has
been hard to get people to participate. I think that if I can get some
local folks on here from different regions it would help out with
traffic on the message board. I haven't heard anything else about the
empress of the north lately. The Empress is like the 'bad luck boat on
the Columbia River- it has only been running for a few years now and
this was like its 4th accident since it was built in '03 or '04
(correct me if I am wrong). I would hate to have been the new mate on
that boat- it really was a mess and I was surprised that it didn't
make more waves in the news.
I actually emailed Lars Larson (the national talk show host) about the
reporting of maritime news. I don't listen to his show as much as I do
Micheal Savage, but Lars lives in Portland close to me- so I get to
call him up locally- hell he was even wondering if I would like to
come on his show once (about LNG tankers). But I was so surprised to
not hear anything about that on his show- noone really calling up and
talking about the accidents that have plagued the empress of the
north- I had to send him a message. He said that he did cover it- I
must have missed it- but it was probably just a blip on his show.
Anyway- I would love to get some local people here talking about
Portland and some of the weird politics.
