This photo was taken when the Holy Name Society was saying their October monthly prayer on every second Sunday of the month . We normally say our Holy Name of Jesus Prayer inside the church after the 9:00am mass but unfortunately the church was used by the Kiribati community on that Sunday. Seen in the photo is our current President Petero Natui, former President Alekisio Sela,Spiritual advisor /acting Parish Priest Fr Lerenio Vodivodi, Pio Bosco, Lepani Rokoua, Vakavuvuli Meli, Siga and Mika Tabalala.
The HNS was promulgated by a Decree by Pope Gregory X on 20 September 1274.
The aim of the HNS is to inspire the Catholic men with a deep reverence and love for the Holy Name of Jesus and to give them moral support of organised numbers in the open practice of their faith by consequence to meet atheistical and anti -Christian tendencies with an organised " For God" and "For Christ" society.
The society used to be called in the seventies in rural parish " NA I TO NI YACANA TABU "
With the challenges facing men in this modern world we are encouraged to establish this society in our individual parish.I know some parishes have their own mens club that is good.
