Does anyone know if the contestants in the upcoming America's Cup
races in San Francisco be visible on the Marine Traffic site? Thanks.

The AC45 boats don't seem to be carrying transponders - it's unclear if the AC 72's will

Thanks. I didn't see the current Oracle boats on the site, but I hope the bigger boats have room and willingness to carry transponders.
Would be fun to follow!
Thanks for responding.

The issue probably isn't room, it's security (and money). The AC45 boats are almost certainly carrying position radios, like the cell phones with GPS programmed to report position, course and speed by direct messaging, that we use in a number of bigger boat regattas here in the SF Bay Area. I expect that data to be available only on a paid subscription basis in the America's Cup, as in the past with Virtual Spectator.

I'm tracking the AC support boats to get a feel when things get going.

Great idea!
To get a complete list of the AC support boats, select All Vessels, and search for "AC-".

Yes, that search is http://goo.gl/OWSsR
Unfortunately it is not a 'complete' list. The search doesn't catch the AC Volunteer nor the AC-America. There is something funky with their search on vessel names.

Another one to watch is Asahi (Ellison) - she usually returns to SF (Islais Creek Pier 80) whenever things get interesting and goes out to watch when boats are racing.

I saw the AC-Atalanta last night at Libertyship coming back from SYC Beercans. Looks like they dock way over there.
Did Oracle buy her from ACRM or was she always labelled Oracle? Is it AC or is it Oracle, or....is it all the same thing :)
Guess those former mark boats are now fun bathtubs for paying folks to ride around in.
