Hello Maria,

Yes, Chameleon is coming right along, though a lot slower than I had hoped. I am thoroughly testing each new piece of code, and compare the results of what I get with what the results should be. I could not do that with MQL4... but I can with C++. The result is code that is going to be virtually error free. The down side is that it's taking a lot longer to complete, as it usually takes 2-3 times as much code to test the functions and such as it takes to write the actual functions themselves. But the end result is going to be well worth it! C++ is way faster than MQL4! The result will be fast back testing.

Better you than me! Computer language is not something I could get my head around, in fact I gave up graphics because it all got too much about programming and not enough about artistic content.

Anyway, in between many family and work chores I finally got around figuring out how to use the AM and will be starting to test aasp. Last month I achieved 6.5% no manual intervention with just 11% dd on a brand new test. With AM I'm looking forward to higher returns and little manual intervention.

I can't tell you how grateful I am for your project and your generosity, I never thought I could create any type of workable system and maybe now I could be closer than I think!

I promised I will send some money your way and I will aasp.

Regards'

Maria

Hi Maria

Did you achieve these results on a live account and on which pairs?

I have run a long cycle BT on EURUSD with Mark’ BO hedge.

See the set file attached I used which was converted from my ENVY set file which has EP =36 and a lot multiplier = 1.87

My 50k demo account at FXPIG is up 157% since OCT 12 using Envy LC

Happy FXing

Ed

Great to hear that all is going well for you  Rick  on the  Chameleon project.

Hi Maria, hi eogorfx,

would you mind giving me some additional information?

To Maria: Did you have time to backtest your set file for the whole year? I came up with something nice, but figoured out that i worked only from May until today with these long swings.
Would love to see some set files which work mostly hands off.

To eogorfx: Did you run Envy LC set files for one pair only or with all Envy-recommended pairs? Do you have an account statement to share? What was your max. DD, which BLS per $-balance did you use?

Kind regards

Hi Fisch and Ego

Sorry I don't think I had received ego's post until fisch's. To answer your questions; yes I did backtest my setfiles. I managed to get 90% quality (with Esteban's guidance and backtesting expertise) I have several versions of setfiles backtested to jan 2009. (Avoided the worst of the GFC) and the worst DD is at 30% with a set file I use on gbp/usd and aud/cad. (Eur/gbp had a higher DD in the month of jan 09 but disregarded it as markets were still under the effects of GFC) The other set files with lower DD are with aud/anz and nzd/cad.

I have found that usd/nzd aud/usd plus of course the yens are very risky with little or no retracements for my setfiles from the above specified date.

I do use them on my live cents account, which is up 168% with my set files since April this year. I haven't published since it has had losses prior to that with FE,therefore the account is at loss as a whole.

I have created my set files to be as hands free as possible with pispans of up to 1000pips, this because I sleep when the markets swing into action. It's almost impossible to get to sleep if I have risky set files not knowing what I'll wake up to in the morning.

In this last week I stuffed up as I started playing with hedges. I got a hedge entry and direction fine for the gbp/usd before the two large moves, but unfortunately being a bit short on patience I closed that hedge at a profit before the second B/O with the FOMC which took me by surprise. So I stuffed up intervening with my basket set up and closing the hedge too soon, had I not done so by now my basket would have closed.

I can't wait until Rick (hopefully) implements some of my earlier suggestions such as getting MBC to close a basket when reaching TP taking into consideration the profit or loss of the hedge before it's closed. This way I wouldn't have had to work out when to close the hedge the morning after the fact and less intervention from impatient me.

My demos since 1 june are at:
+ 45.2% trading 12 pairs (very risky) highest DD: 31.2%
+ 49% trading 10 pairs, (still risky) highest DD: 26.2%% no yens, aud/usd, nzd/usd.

I had lots of losses with these demos experimenting with hedges and when upgrading to MBC- AM as it defaults to AM and I haven't yet upgraded my setfiles to AM false. So sometimes I forget this and the whole basket goes crash.

The other idea I had in the last few days whilst experimenting:
What IF? When hedging, instead of removing TP for the growing basket (the one against the trend), remove the TP for the basket with the trend this way it's sort of fully hedging itself. So if your hedge is a buy for sell basket remove the TP for buy baskets. If you get the direction right, the baskets would close with the smallest of retracement and the hedge wouldn't have to be multiplied many times to try compensate. Just an idea.

I'll take a look at your set files when I get a chance as I'm juggling so many different things right now it's very stressful.

Good luck, we all need it!

*:) happy Maria

Are you using pure Envy LC or with a built in BO hedge?

This is envy lc only with zero intervention. I have converted this to MBC set with Excel & Mark's BO set (posted) but haven't got to run it on demo yet. Should be safer than envy!
Looks good on a few months of BT. Also note the big winner is EJ on the FXPIG 1:100 leverage demo and UC is no good. Just need  ~ 200k of real capital and the balls not to mess with it much except when the hedge triggers possibly.
Happy FXing

I also like Maria's idea that the overall p/l  in the basket including the hedges, if active, should be used to close even at BE or for a user defined loss.
The most important point is to close that hedged basket automatically if at all possible.
I have found my manual efforts to deal with the hedge to be stressful and requiring to much screen time.

HI Ed/Maria
This has been something that has been on the wishlist for a while.
Some of the settings I have and am testing which use unbalanced hedges (ie. hedges that are > the total basket size) can often take the overall basket into profit on a decent breakout or trend. I have conversed with rick about the possibility of incorporating code which whacks a SL on the whole basket (including hedges) and then trails the basket.
The agreement was that it was a good idea, but the principle would be much more able to be incorporated into Chameleon.
My understanding is that Chameleon is ultimately not just a single solution EA but an approach that will enable some of these ideas to be more easily and efficiently incorporated (Correct me if I am wrong Rick*:) happy)
So I would say this is a work in progress ant the moment
Cheers Mark

Maria,

I found this tool that does what you described. It analyse all the buy and sell trades for the pair/magicnum and set BE (or BE+pips).

This is a free tool written by ForexWarrior vendor, you can download the tool from DF.

Since it is separate from MBC, it is still a manual step. I am thinking if a hedge breakout is triggered, set MBC OpenNewBasket to false and let this EA take over. It can monitor BE without changing the TP so it won't confuse MBC.

Hi Matthew

Sounds good I'll take a look at it thanks for that. I had an idea for managing breakouts and large baskets, I need some time to test it as it's a based on a breakout strategy on daily charts so I need to wait for the right opportunity, I'll share it with you guys once I've tried it out myself, it does mean monitoring each day and entering/closing trades manually.

Happy trading

Dear all,

No prob. I still got much to learn from you all.

Btw, I just use this tool to close the basket built up from TOMS EA. Decided to stop TOMS EA until the situation stable down but TOMS EA has a bug of keep trading even the Activate parameter is set to false.
