MBC working on build 600?

has anybody tried MBC on the new builds? I am still trying to figure out if it works properly.

Mark is testing to see if it works on the new builds, and it seems to be doing fine, except that for some reason the display does not work. I'm thinking if I update the compiler to the build 600 and re-compile, it should be fine.

Would it be possible to have an input to MBC which will only allow a new level to open on a new bar tick ?

In this way DD is reduced when a big price move occurs. The lot size could also be recalculated to maintain the BTP in touch with the current price.

Another way to look at this is to only allow one level per bar which will only fill on open of next bar if this is => the EP defined for that level. This way DD can be reduced by using longer TFs

Hello Ed,

It would be possible to add in a filter to allow trades to be opened simply on the opening of the new bar, and only 1 level per bar. Of course, would that make you miss a retrace at times?

HI Everyone

Have downloaded build 6 from 3 brokers, IC Markets, Pepperstone and TradeFort

Have tested MBC on demo accounts on all 3 with similar results

Initially after attaching MBC to a chart it initialised but did not start opening trades (no error messages in journal or experts tab). Only after i re-started the MT4 did it initialise again and start opening trades. On IC Markets and Trade fort the trading continued and is still running, opening and closing trades as expected for the set file I am running. On the Pepperstone installation trading only continued (baskets formed) until a TP was hit and then new baskets were not opened (OpenNewBuyBaskets, & OpenNewSellBaskets both set to True) I have just re-started the Pepperstone MT4 and trading has started again.

In all 3 cases the OSD is defined by its black box on the top Left of the chart but there is hardly any text in it. Just a few random words or a couple of lines of text. So the OSD has defiantly been affected by the build change.

I have just set the Trade Fort instalation going on a real money (cent) account and it has started opening trades as expected - only after the platform was re-started and again the OSD is not working

I also ran a 10month backtest on the IC Markets platform with the new build. The tested seemed to run fine and the results were identical to the results from previous build 509 for the same time period and set file. Again though there was no meaningful OSD display. I watched it for a while and the OSD seemed to flicker with text as backtesting continued but there was only a few words that remained as readable for any period of time.

Rick - hope this is of some use to troubleshoot the issue - your thought that it might be a compiling issue makes some sense to me (with my very limited knowledge of MLQ) due to the need to restart to platform to get MBC to start trading.

I will also paste below a copy of email from the Envy team about their issues with envy which may be of use in preventing forced updates:

The recent update we released for Metatrader build 600 is having issues with high CPU usage and some other usability issues. Our programmer is in the process of determining the cause of this issue however until a solution can be found we recommend NOT updating your Metatrader to build 600. You can check to see what build of Metatrader you are currently using by going to the "Help" tab and clicking "About". If you are not using build 600 DO NOT RESTART YOUR METATRADER UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING:

 

-Search your Hard Disk for a folder called "webinstall"

This folder should be under a Metaquotes folder. There may be more than one folder called "webinstall"

Change the folder titled "webinstall" to "webmistake"

 

Once this change is applied Metatrader will not be able to change to build 600 even if you restart your Metatrader platform. If you are already using build 600 you may need to contact your broker and ask them if they can send you build 509.

 

Once we have a version of Envy that works seamlessly with build 600 we will notify all of our members. Keep in mind you will have to change the folder named "webmistake" back to "webinstall" in order for your Metatrader platform to update properly in the future. This is just a temporary way to give us a little more time in order to release a fully compatible version of Envy with build 600.

Yes it would mean some retraces were missed but it is much safer grid trader as you don’t have to pay back all the opened levels.

From my observations most big moves are over within a one hour bar.

For best results, I believe,  the lot size opened on the next bar would need to be adjusted up to account for the missed levels in order to bring the BTP back to about normal.

The nice bit is you are not staring (in panic) at a huge equity dip after a > 100 pip price surge!

Maybe this action could be triggered at any pre-set level (e.g. level 5) so that all those low level ranges could churn profits in the normal way before the breakout occurs?

We are all familiar with the great ability of MBC to make great returns with short EPs and TPs

Hi Guys

Thanks for the update on the new build, I have changed the WebInstall folder. Also a very interesting concept for MBC to take trades on the close of the candle. It would definitively reduce the no of trades, not sure what that will do to my basket formation.

One thing is for sure you couldn't have the hedge taken the same way. I have been using a good conbination so far. I use 1 hour chart, 40/50 channel imputs and a 2.5 hedge multiplier. On strong price moves I can close a basket within a day in profit and start over. I only do this when I think the hedge breakout will be with the trend.  There's been times when there was a spike and taken a hedge in the wrong direction with those settings. That's where being able to select hedge buy/sell would be very useful.

It does not seem to be going away with subsequent builds.

Have now downloaded build 6.10 (the latest build)  from metaquotes and MBC seems to work but just no OSD.

I think this is going to be up to rick to have a look into... hopefully just a re-compile issue.

which is a new demo copy of the hybrid system  I have now started trading live. Based on a mix of 3 strategies on 3 different pairs, refined over the past 4 months. Hopefully requiring min manual intervention

I am more comfortable sharing a clean demo version rather than my live account, because the live account is a confusion of history and other trading.

Dear trader,

 

As a result of the recent MetaTrader 4 (MT4) Build 600 upgrade implemented by MetaQuotes, the folders within the MT4 folder have moved. In addition, the MQL4 language has changed, and this may have interfered with your installed Expert Advisors (EAs) and indicators.

 

As a result of this upgrade, you should firstly save your EAs and indicators in the new folder location, which is: MT4 > MQL4 > Experts/Indicators.

 

Secondly, you will need to align your EAs and indicators with the new language to ensure they are fully functional on the updated MT4 platform. To do this, there are two options:

 

Option 1: Contact your EA provider if you do not have the source code available and request an updated version of the EA.

 

Option 2: If you have written your own EAs or you do have the source code available, please follow these steps:

 

 

 

*     Navigate to Tools > MetaQuotes Language Editor – a new window will appear

*     Navigate to View > Navigator – the Navigator box will appear in this window (if not shown already)

*     Double-click on the EA/indicator you would like to use and update – the relevant EA script will appear in the main window

*     Alternatively navigate to File > Open to locate the relevant EA/indicator source code saved on your computer

*     Click on Compile in the toolbar on top of the main window (or navigate to File > Compile) – a message will appear in the Toolbox window at the bottom

*     Once this has completed and there are no error messages displayed you will need to close and reopen MT4 – your EAs and indicators should now be ready to use
