Have been very busy too.... I can try you friday around 7.00 -8.00 GTM if you are around.

Settings optimisation has come from backtesting - they may be too curve fitted and I would never suggest they are the holy grail....but conceptually a good place to start.

It is Hedge Outer Period that controls when the B/O hedge is activated and the 200 period tested up better over average conditions than smaller or greater values. I would suggest after a big move like the FOMC move that it would be a good idea to tighten this parameter up (say to 50) for 2-3 days.
Of course there is the L20 sliding hedge and the maxout hedge which are activated as protection of last resort - but not ideal.

We could maybe try testing with a L15 or L16 sliding hedge activated, but I prefer using the breakout hedge as the primary protection.....

I actually have closed for the week as I made my weekly target and some from catching this move with a L13 Basket, This I manually closed at slightly better than the hedge TS so yes I agree there is still a role for a human supervisor here, but we can at least sleep at night knowing we will not wake up and find a blown account!
I hope you dont mind i have copied this to the forum as I think the discussion on manual intervention is valuable

Cheers Mark

Subject: Hi Mark!

Hi Mark

I have been busy with work but just got today and tomorrow free.

If we don't manage to Skype, that's ok for now as I am now comfortable with how the breakout and trail parameters are functioning.

One thing you and I could still discuss is breakout hedge protection. I have been regularly looking back over 100 hours to check at which price levels my breakout hedge protection lies (assuming set to 200 on 30 min chart). On the large euro upmove yesterday, any continued buying now could result in a failure to hedge before we reach 1.27 which is after a max 300+ move. So I have the euro closed down for now.

What do you think about decreasing the 200 hedgeinnerperiod parameter to provide hedge protection earlier?

Or would you close the basket at level 15+?

It seems that to trade your system successfully in the long term, these manual interventions have to be made in order to decrease the risk of entering high levels.

Best regards
Daniel

Thanks for sharing this discussion. It is useful information for learners. I too prefer breakout hedge over sliding hedge. The manual intervention to keep this setting survive long term is what keeps me away from running live. May start a cents account to try out soon.

Matthew

Hi everyone

Boy you guys have been busy bees whilst I was on holidays! Have loads of catching up to do when I eventually get home.

For now I'm happy to report I've got excellent results with MBC martingale:

+ Up 150% on my live cents account in the last two months. High risk trading one max basket could have blown my full account at the start. Max DD 34% (last 3 weeks 650pip drawdown on eur/usd).

IBFX demos from start of May to now from home PC (& missed trading for last two weeks):

+ Up 34% with a 14.8% DD on low risk pairs
+ Up 32.7% with a 25.7% DD on mixed pairs. This demo suffered a no losses due to mishaps from me when upgrading ea and set files such as having AM on when first installed. Still good result, it will soon surpass the low risk demo.

Thanks you so much to Rick. Will send you some money once I start working.

Also thanks to all that have helped me along the way.

Have a great week-end

Maria

Do not be too put off...
The settings at the moment run pretty much unsupervised, and with much less overall risk than something like the old envy settings.
Also there is much more time to consider intervention strategies if required.
You are not likely to wake up to a maxed out basket....

Cheers Mark

Hi Guys,

I have closed my demo on excel markets now after proving that a properly managed account using MBC will not blow before returning 100% of investment as profit .... you take it out and keep trading on the generated profits (for obvious reasons) ....

It is to be noted that the demo in question was not optimized at all .... 40 level max baskets were being hedged .... pip span was around 700 .... (this was done for UJ and EJ ....)

For GU and UC, less levels and tighter pip span were used ....

Another point to note is that the DD of 61% is not the real figure for the system due to the fact that floating equity was above the starting balance for 99.999% of the time ....

I am really happy and thankful to Rick for his hard work and commitment to make this possible .... I have already got a tiny cent account going and hope to get 100% back from it before it dies (won't be a problem, I know) ....

As with any Marti, you do need to babysit MBC but it is much easier and convenient that ever before !! I am sure that the Chameleon help reduce the baby sitting as well but some ppl like to babysit the system and enjoy the thrills of the ride (like me) :)

As this demo is now over, I will focus my energies on the set files posted by our growing community and help in forward testing as much as I can ...

Have a $ filled day !!

Regards,

Syed

Hi Syed

Nice work.

What kind of manual interventions did you make as you mentioned on Myfxbook?

Ed

Managing the hedges mostly ... and sometimes closing the half-formed baskets based on price action to avoid reversal to BE sort of stuff ... :)

and freezing the big baskets during the news if the equity was hovering closer to the initial balance .... it happened only once though ....
