That's really interesting...  Is it a good quality data that gives you at least 90% backtest results? 2 losing weeks is not half bad for completely restarting the system each week and forcing it to close out at the end of the week... Are you going to do a forward test with it? I can certainly program this in... it sounds really interesting to me and should be interesting to see the results in a forward test. I'm also including the google group in this discussion as I think others would be interested in the concepts as well.

Would you mind posting your set file as well?

Thanks

- Rick

Hello Cecil,

Sure that's possible. However, I would be hesitant about this because it could force you to take a huge loss if a basket had moved against you and you then closed it out at the weekend...

HI Rick I really like mbc and I like the new idea but I still would like to  keep mbc if you don't mind the thing with mbc that I would love to see is a function that would close all trades on Friday say at 5 min before market close or what ever user puts do you think this is possible because it seems like if you do this and start over on sunday it seems to work better if you are in a trend  please reply back

HI Cecil
Sounds like impressive results you are getting. Were the 2 loosing weeks significant in terms of the average winning week?

I generally try go flat or close everything down over weekend. I usually set Open New Trades to false about 24hrs before market close, But sometimes I have already hedged  positions that stay open.

It would be interesting to see if you get similar results on other pairs - but I guess very slow to backtest 1 week at a time. Only really possible if rick could add the weekend closedown function
Be happy to help BTesting if you want

Cheers Mark

Hi Rick

About MBC vers 2D news server, just noticed that if you restart MT4 the news events change as well as trading times.

The Mt4 that hasn't been restarted still has USD Federal rate decision to resume trading in about 11 hours. The Mt4 that has been restarted has resumed trading and it's listing next news event: Non Farm, stop trading in 5 hours.

Both Mt4 are with the same broker.

Not sure what is happening.

Regards

maria

So MBC has lost a track of the news event that has already happened... means MBC couldn't see past events .... that would be a problem linked to the news server feed itself or the way MBC gets the news info from it .....

Rick will be able to point out the exact cause !  :)

When the system restarts... it simply looks for the next news event. It doesn't look into the past and see if you are still in the no trade zone of a past news release.
